The Evolution of “Heathen SBK  R1″

So where did the Heathen SBK R1 come from … other than my workshop … read on and you shall be enlightened.

Project “Heathen SBK R1″ started off innocently enough, add a few simple after market parts and leave it alone.

You know the idea, a set of braided lines, a tinted screen, a set of oggies and a factory cowl. Nothing special, nothing major.

Yeah …… ok. So what happened ??

On the 17th of February 2006 I was caught in a traffic accident with a deaf, blind and completely moronic car driver.

I was minding my own business .. enjoying the ride home on a friday afternoon when I was hit by the old bastard.

This left me with a busted back and my precious R1 bent and twisted laying in the workshop.

Hyped up on pain killers and stuck in bed for 5 weeks I soon discovered that internet shopping is exceedingly easy …. and so it begun. Tip for young players …. painkillers and empty credit cards dont mix.

I embarked on creating a standout “catalog custom”.

After 12 months and close to 14k later, the bike had gone from this

Not a bad transformation if I do say so myself.

What Happend Next ??

So …whats was next ? I rode the bike in this trim for close to 18 months when an electrical issue sidelined the bike. Pressed for time due to my wedding and in dire need of transport I purchsed my black 2005 R1.  This left the red R1 sitting in the workshop doing nothing … bad mistake.
